Every kind of copy, with where it came from.

Each item shows the app it came from and a real preview: link titles and images, image sizes, file icons, color swatches, highlighted code. Copy something twice and it just moves to the front.

Questions

Is Shelf really free?

Yes. No trial, no account, nothing to buy.

Why does macOS warn me when I open it?

Shelf isn't signed with a paid Apple developer ID. Right click Shelf in Applications, choose Open, then Open again. If that doesn't show up, go to System Settings, Privacy & Security, and click Open Anyway.

Why does it need Accessibility access?

macOS only lets apps with Accessibility access paste into other apps. Turn it on in System Settings, Privacy & Security, Accessibility.

Does anything I copy get uploaded?

No. Your history stays in one library on your Mac. The only time Shelf goes online is to load previews for links you copy, and you can turn that off in Settings, Privacy.

Does it sync to my iPhone or other Macs?

No. Shelf is local only on purpose.

Can I move the shelf to another edge?

Yes. Bottom, top, left or right, from the ••• menu or Settings, General.

How long does it keep things?

You choose in Settings, Storage. Pinned items are never removed automatically.

How do I pause it?

Press ⌘T, or choose Pause from the Shelf icon in the menu bar.

Never lose a copy again.

Free for macOS 14 or later.
